Neuromodulators
Neuromodulators are paralytic medications used to help smooth wrinkles that are formed from the motion of muscles.
These injectables are commonly used to treat the forehead lines, the “eleven lines” that are vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet, which are fine lines near the outside corner of the eyes. In addition to these most common uses, neuromodulators can be used around the mouth, neck, jaw and temples to reshape the areas and can even help excess sweating.
Neuromodulators use a form of botulinum toxin that temporarily prevents signal of a nerve ending to a target muscle. They have a great (and extensive) safety record with minimal side effects reported. It is injected using a small needle just under the skin to give a temporary weakness or paralysis to the target muscles. This smooths wrinkles and also works as a preventative technique to minimize wrinkling in the future.
This 30-40 y/o female had Dysport injected into her forehead, glabella (area between eyebrows) and crows feet.
